Announcing cooperation between EUSA and Rugby Europe on Rugby 7's

We are delighted to announce that the European University Sports Association (EUSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rugby Europe. Signing the Memorandum is a result of the common interests and goals of both organisations - to increase the participation among students of higher education in sport, and to provide the best conditions for EUSA sports events.

Rugby, and Rugby 7's in particular, is very popular among university students. The International University Sports Federation (FISU) held the first Rugby Sevens event in 2004, and three years later the sport was also added to the EUSA sports programme. In Rugby Sevens teams consist of seven players, playing seven minute halves. Rugby Sevens was also featured at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, thus gaining more visibility and popularity.

EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek

Upon the signing of the memorandum, EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek stated: "Rugby Europe has priceless experience in promoting, developing and organising sport. Its openness made rugby popular at all levels and has significant contribution to promotion of active and healthy way of life. By signing this agreement, we believe that the fellowship existing in Rugby together with vivacity and enthusiasm of students will have bilateral benefits and we as partners can develop together in safe and progressive environment."

Mr Octavian Morariu, Rugby Europe President added "We are delighted to officialise our partnership with EUSA, while we have collaborated for several years. It is a great opportunity for our association to keep promoting our sport and our values to university students, who are our ambassadors. It is also important for us to associate our unions members through new experiences for referees for example. We wish long life to this partnership."
